about us & this blog

Hi from– Amber, Migs, Dakota & Phoenix

On one of my (Amber) journeys (this time to Mexico) I had the privilege of meeting Migs, we married & now have a beautiful son & daughter.  After spending a collective 17 years volunteering for various humanitarian projects we both felt we should take some time out to consider the future & what our options were. (you might wonder how we being so young volunteered for so long… well we both started at 16 on opposite sides of the world & in fact met on a project in Mexico City 2007)

We decided it was time for a break from volunteer work & so discussed our hopes & dreams for the future. We now reside in Australia where Amber is from & have a 4 yr goal to save & build our  “dream” home in Morelia– Mexico where Migs is from.

We arrived in Oz with ZERO & had to start from scratch. We are now in the 4th year of our 4 year goal.

This Dream Board is dedicated to material that we come across online that will continue to inspire us to stay focused on the goal as well as ideas to use when the time comes to start building, throughout which this journey will continue & be all the more exciting with real updates from Mexico!

Its going to be a Spanish/Mexican style house as Morelia is a Spanish colonial city & you can really see that influenced their architecture. And the overall style will be rustic. We are going  “green” with solar panels, rain water tanks, recycling, & hoping to cut our costs with heaps of DIY which I love!

Join us on our journey of highs, lows, joys & of course mistakes. Feel free to comment on our blog with tips, ideas & suggestions. We’d love to hear from you!

Setting goals is something we’re all familiar with. In fact, it’s almost become a cliche that some people no longer pay attention to. Making a dream board can take the cliche out of setting your life goals, and can even help you to accomplish those goals. (wikiHow)

  1. Freakin’ awesome Amber! I love your drive and single mindedness! Of course I’m hoping you will move closer here and not farther 😦 . Your ideas and research I’m sure will be invaluable! I might just steal ideas too. 🙂

    • Thanks Jo, half the credit definitely goes to Migs, once he gets an idea in his head he doesn’t stop!
I love your ideas as well..feel free to share them with me 🙂
As for moving closer, I would of course love to. But Mexico is calling to us & our hearts tell us to follow.
PS: You will have to visit us over there!

  2. Amber,
I love how you’ve articulated your goals and are working steadily towards them. I think I’m gunna have to create a “dream board” as well. 🙂

  3. Just saw this blog and love it! It’s great that you know exactly what you want…I know so many people who have no idea what they want to do with their lives 🙂

    • Tx Ruth, I must admit it was such a relief when we broke away from the “old” way of thinking & realized we could do whatever we wanted with our lives & that nothing could stop us if we put our minds to it.
