one way to save when building on a budget
Talking with Migs the other day about size & space in regards to the house, I suggested we go with a two story as I wanted to use less land (reason being that we want to eventually build a self contained guest house that can also be used as a BnB)
We weren’t sure if it was more costly to build a double story…so after a little research I found out when building on a budget that its cheaper to build UP rather then OUT.
Reason for this is that a large part of the expense goes into roofing, insulation etc. And with a double story the roof ends up being smaller then on a single of the same size and a hellofalot cheaper then building it doubly large out. So UP it is!
